Walmley Residents Association

Please Note:-
This site has not been updated now since the AGM in April, so no longer represents the views of the New Walmley Residents Association Committee

Walmley is a Village, in Sutton New Hall Ward, within the constituency of Sutton Coldfield.

In 1974 Sutton Coldfield was taken into the City of Birmingham. In June 2004 Ward Boundaries were looked at and as a result "New Hall" ward had a section taken off it, a new ward was created until then New Hall ward had been the largest ward in the City of Birmingham.

Whilst the ward boundaries may have changed, our resident's association area has not and we therefore cover most of New Hall Ward and a section of the newly created "Trinity Ward". Sutton Coldfield now has four wards in the constituency, and one of 10 constituency's within the City of Birmingham, which is in turn part of the West Midland Region in the United Kingdom.

Local Residents will recognise the photographs on Round About page, as a range of houses within the area, local shops in the Village Centre, Walmley Primary School and St.Johns Church. Our Residents Association Logo on the left of the header shows the year the association was founded and it has been active in the community ever since. WRA gets involved with all aspects of life, Transportation, Education, Planning and The Environment. Our area now includes more than 7,500 dwellings.

The committee is made up of local volunteers who care for their community and have some time to give. We have a monthly formal committee meeting together with the "Neighbourhood Forum" arm of the group we hold two regular public meeting per calendar year, often with guest speakers. WRA/WNF are represented on many other groups. Ward Board, (BANF) Birmingham Association of Neighbourhood Forums, Police Liaison, to name just a few. There are also about 30 other volunteers who deliver the quarterly newsletters to subscribing members of WRA. Newsletters go out quarterly in March, June, September and December each year.

Meetings:

- At our AGM in April 09 there was a change in constitution of the Forum. In future there will be two static meetings per years with others as and when required. This is to enable us to be flexible and able to respond to consultation, without putting more strain on our resources. The meetings are held at St. Johns Church, in the Village Centre. The Church is fully accessible for people who have disabilities including those who need to use a "loop" system for their hearing aid. OUR EVENTS page gives details of meetings.

Membership:

- Anyone over the age of 16 who lives in the area or who has an interest in the area can become a member by subscribing to the Association.
The yearly membership is at present, a minimum of £2.00 per household.
WHAT GREAT VALUE! Less than 4p per week!
How do you join? Details are on the WRA notice board outside Walmley Community Hall or you can use the "Contact Us" page for information to join or volunteer to help.

We hope this Web Site will encourage more residents to become actively involved in their area. To enable each and every one of us to "take ownership" of their environment, in order that we can share in "Pride of Place". Ensuring we have done our best to pass on something worthwhile to future generations.
